Pour la première fois, des astronomes ont utilisé le télescope spatial James Webb de la NASA pour prendre une image directe d'une planète en dehors de notre système solaire. L'exoplanète est une géante gazeuse, ce qui signifie qu'elle n'a pas de surface rocheuse et ne pourrait pas être habitable.
L’image, vue à travers quatre filtres de lumière différents, montre comment le puissant regard infrarouge de Webb peut facilement capturer des mondes au-delà de notre système solaire, ouvrant la voie à de futures observations qui révéleront plus d’informations que jamais sur les exoplanètes.
